Technology

Arkados is focused on bridging the gap between digital entertainment and the most ubiquitous way of networking: powerline communication.

Powerline Communications is a robust and reliable technology used for in-home, to-the-home, and in-building networks.

Transforming a power network into one that also carries high-speed data is not a new idea, but significant technical hurdles have been recently overcome that make this technology viable and market-ready, as echoed by members of the FCC.

Also, powerline communications has been garnering significant attention in many of the top media outlets worldwide. It's an easy-to-use technology that can inexpensively realize the promise of the Internet, and Arkados is active in all of its applications.

Arkados works closely with the HomePlug Powerline Alliance whose mission is to enable and promote rapid availability, adoption and implementation of cost effective, interoperable and standards-based home powerline networks and products.

In-Home Networking
The exciting in-home networking market offers an easy way to share broadband access, digital audio & video, and communications throughout homes: through the power outlets. Each device is already connected!

Arkados' system-on-chip and software solutions are designed to help OEMs of consumer electronics, computing, and communications products to use HomePlug technology to easily connect devices to each other and to the Internet.

MDU/MTU Networks
Hotels, apartment buildings, and office buildings have an ever-increasing need for products that offer non-invasive and cost-effective installation.

Powerline communications easily solves the problems inherent with adding a network to an existing building. By simply plugging in a device in each room, you can easily network a whole building. The tasks associated with upgrading load centers and common areas are insignificant.

Broadband Powerline
The power lines that already connect to every home and business can be used to deliver broadband access and other services from your utility company or service provider.

Several proprietary technologies have been in successful field trials, and getting great reviews. President Bush had reflected on using power lines for broadband access during his address on Innovation (U.S. Department of Commerce, Washington, D.C., June 24, 2004).
